Jason Self passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the young age of 21. He was born May 25, 1988 to Jay and Teresa Self in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jason graduated from Westmoore High School in 2007 and was attending Oklahoma City Community College at the time of his death. Jason was a four-year letterman and starter in wrestling and a three-year letterman in football for Westmoore. He won multiple little league wrestling state championships, was a three time Jr. high state champion and a high school state runner-up his freshman year. Jason was selected to the first Oklahoma School-Boy National Freestyle and Greco Roman teams and was later selected to the Oklahoma Cadet National Freestyle and Greco Roman teams. Multiple knee surgeries ended his wrestling career much too soon, but he loved the sport and continued in it as both a referee and coach.His friends and family remember him as a free spirit, someone who could brighten any room with the sound of his voice and laughter. He had a kind and loving heart and, without a doubt, touched the lives of so many people. We will remember him not only for his talent, but also for the brotherhood he shared with those he coached, umpired, befriended and loved. Jason is survived by his parents, Jay and Teresa Self; sister, Kelsey, 23; brother, Brian, 19; grandmother, Mae Self; and grandparents, Clayton and Sue Woodrum. He is also survived by his dogs, Bandit, Smokey, and Romeo, whom he loved like his own children; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and "brothers" he acquired over the years, especially Kyler Greer and Jay Lowe. The family would like to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, support, food, flowers, and company throughout this difficult time. We will miss Jason so much, may he rest peacefully.We are all saddened by the loss of such a wonderful young man and would like to invite the public to honor his life with his family. Visitation is to be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening, March 16, and again from 10:00 AM to Noon on Wednesday morning at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S.
